This Privacy Policy explains how Rooje LLC ("Rooje," "we," "us") collects, uses and protects information when you use the Tagpuan app, the rooje.io website and any other app published by Rooje LLC (together, the "Services").
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your name, email address, username, password, and profile photo or bio if you choose to add them.
- Sign-in with Apple, Google or Facebook: if you choose one of these, we receive the basic profile information you approve, such as your name, email address and profile picture. We never receive your password for those services.
- Content you share: posts, questions, answers, comments, messages, photos, and meetup or event details you create or join.
- Communications: messages you send to our support team, reports you submit and feedback.
Information collected automatically
- Location: only if you allow it in your device settings, to show nearby meetups and events. You can turn this off at any time.
- Device and usage information: device model, operating system, app version, language, IP address, crash reports, and how you use features of the app.
- Push notification token: if you allow notifications.
We do not collect precise location in the background, and we do not use your data to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.
2. How we use information
- To create and manage your account and provide the Services.
- To show relevant meetups, events, questions and community members.
- To send service messages and notifications, which you can turn off in settings.
- To keep the community safe: moderating content, reviewing reports, preventing spam, fraud and abuse, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
- To fix problems, analyze performance and improve the Services.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only:
- With other users: your profile and anything you post publicly are visible to other Tagpuan users.
- With service providers who help us run the Services, such as cloud hosting, databases, authentication, push notifications, email and crash reporting. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- For legal reasons: when required by law, to respond to valid legal requests, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, Rooje or the public, including reporting child exploitation to the appropriate authorities.
- In a business transfer: if Rooje is involved in a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
4. Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days. We may keep limited information longer only when required by law, to resolve disputes, or to prevent fraud and abuse (for example, records of accounts banned for safety violations). Backups are overwritten within 90 days.
5. Account and data deletion
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account) or without the app by emailing info@rooje.io. Full instructions are on our Account Deletion page.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access, correct or download your information in the app or by contacting us.
- Delete your account and data (see above).
- Withdraw consent for location access or notifications at any time in your device settings, and disconnect Apple, Google or Facebook sign-in in those services' settings.
- Opt out of non-essential emails using the unsubscribe link.
Depending on where you live (for example California, the European Union or the United Kingdom), you may have additional rights under laws such as the CCPA or GDPR, including the right to object to processing or lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request, email info@rooje.io; we respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls and secure cloud infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
8. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. See our Child Safety Standards.
9. International users
Rooje LLC is based in the United States, and your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. We take steps to protect your information wherever it is processed.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email.
